Volkswagen will run two new ads during the Super Bowl Sunday broadcast on American television.



Volkswagen of America will pay dearly to air two 30-second spots - one for the all-new North American Passat model and one for the 2012 Beetle - which will run during the second and fourth quarters of the game.



The Passat commercial features a Star Wars theme and was produced with the help of Lucasfilm Ltd., George Lucas' production company. The visuals are accompanied by the well-known "Imperial March" music by film composer John Williams. The ad shows a child dressed as Darth Vader summoning the "Force" upon discovering a Passat in the driveway.



The other spot for the all-new 2012 VW Beetle features a CGI-generated black beetle who reigns supreme in the forest. The soundtrack includes a new rendition of the famed rock song "Black Betty" by Jon Spencer and the Blues Explosion.
